At it again!

This week I started practicing with the Pensacola Roller Gurlz in Pensacola Florida at Dreamland Skate Center. I was very nervous because I have not skated in almost 5 months......that saying was in my head "if you don't use it then you lose it!" As soon as I got there the team members welcomed me and lent me some extra gear and I suited up. The coach had me right in there with the team doing warm up drills and then hitting drills. I slowly began to get the feel of skating again and all the rules and strategies were coming back to me. I went to practice Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday night and was able to skate in the Marvel Comic themed scrimmage this Sunday.  Multiple teams from the east coast mixed together to form 4 teams for the scrimmage. My husband ended up buying me some new gear, thank goodness, the loaner ones were falling off the majority of the time which is very unsafe. I ended up doing very well in the scrimmage and made it through un-injured. I have to say that I am very sore the past two days, but I was lucky to escape some major beatings. I played the jammer position the majority of the time and was also thrown in as a blocker. I had my first real hit that took a player out too.....I was so impressed with myself!!! I am so happy to be a part of a team again and exercise so much that it hurts to walk the next day. Roller Derby rocks!!!

E-ZPass Roller Derby Page

My roller derby name is E-ZPass and my number is H0T (H zero T....the number has to have an actual number to be considered one!). I chose the name because I am fast and not really established as a great blocker or hitter yet. I also know of the actual EZPass lanes in VA and NY and thought they would go good for me in roller derby.  HOT stands for High Occupancy Toll for the EZPass lanes,  which doesn't really apply to me, but H0T would stand out on my jersey ;) Here is the link to my roller derby page if anyone is interested in following. My last roller derby game in Japan.

This was my second and last derby game as a part of the Yokosuka Sushi Rollers in Japan. My main position is the jammer, the only one on the team that can score points.
